Angel of Mercy

Written June 24, 2006

The worst part about the night is right before you go to sleep.
Nobody's beside you to hear your jokes,
No one cares how much your day sucked,
Or didn't suck.
No one's there to hold you and kiss you goodnight.
Your alone.
You're suddenly forced to think over your day
You have to struggle with your internal battles,
Struggle without someone to tell you not to.
Sleep only comes as a merciful angel.
He throws you into deep slumber
Before leaving you to your fights.
You slowly fight, and lose, your battles as morning approaches.
Twilight begins to twinkle sweet soft lights.
The morning star appears before the large day star begins to shine.
At daybreak, you struggle to open your eyes.
You pick yourself up from your tiresome fighting
Then you dust yourself off before starting your charade once again.
Looking in the mirror, you hide your struggles behind a smile,
Then face the world with your mask.
